Course Focus | Establish a solid foundation in piano and musical understanding, progressing from technique to musicality, and developing the ability to express emotions and imagery through performance.
▌Self-introduction
I'm Zhewei, a performer and educator focused on piano, with an emphasis on musical understanding and storytelling.
For me, playing the piano isn't just about hitting the right notes; it's about understanding what the music is saying, where the emotions come from, and where they are going.
I pay close attention to the relationships between melody, harmony, and overall structure, and I enjoy understanding a piece within its historical context and style. Whether it's classical piano, lyrical pop, or cinematic music, I want students to "understand what the music is doing," rather than just relying on muscle memory.
In my classes, I often guide students to understand music through stories, imagery, or emotions, making the pieces vivid and meaningful.
Whether you're just starting to learn piano, or you've been playing for a while and feel stuck, I hope to accompany you step-by-step in building your own way of understanding music, making the piano a true tool for expressing your thoughts.
